Good afternoon friends!
Who-hoo! We’re at 200 followers, everyone!!!
I’m kinda a little bit giddy?!
*cue the hand cut eco confetti made from pressed flowers*
Okay, actually, its 202 to be exact! Anyway, a supersized THANK YOU to everyone who’s subscribed and liked my posts! I wouldn’t be where I’m at without you and I truly appreciate it more than you can possibly imagine!

So on to this weeks post, since the weather has been so gloriously filled with sunshine I thought I’d go on a little wander through a golden summer afternoon to try and find some brightly coloured wildflowers, and I wanted to take you guys along with me so you can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and pretty plants too! I hope these photos bring as much joy to your day as much as they did mine.

Starting off my wildflower quest is a little orange dandelion type weed called Fox and Cubs, I’ve never seen these before but actually think they’re kinda adorable. They don’t grow particularly tall but are so very bright.

Foxgloves have been springing up left, right and centre along the verges and roadside – I’ve even seen some growing out of walls!

Walking down the country lanes/woodland in the middle of nowhere is one of my greatest rewards in life – I feel if I’ve been really good then I deserve to go and look at the flowers and finding these huge red poppies in the middle of a woods was a lovely surprise.

These little yellow flowers are something called Birds-foot trefoil – which is a great food plant for several types of butterfly, in my opinion they look very Wonderland-ish. I’m growing these ones in my Wildspace.

Not quite but entirely related to this post, is that fact that I really enjoyed the old Disney animations as a child – my all time favourite was Alice in Wonderland, so I suppose it slightly sparked my love of flowers and nature…when I was younger I really liked to believe I might end up in Wonderland or Middle Earth (my first reading of LOTR was before the movies came out!) and as I got older I realised that for me Cornwall is where my soul feels at home (which I think is as close as I’ll ever get).
Anyway, there’s a part in the movie where Alice meets the Live Flowers and they sing her song…
Little bread-and-butterflies kiss the tulips, and the sun is like a toy balloon. There are get up in the morning glories, in the golden afternoon. There are dizzy daffodils on the hillside, strings of violets are all in tune, Tiger lilies love the dandelions, in the golden afternoon, the golden afternoon. There are dog and caterpillars and a copper centipede, where the lazy daisies love the very peaceful life they lead… You can learn a lot of things from the flowers, for especially in the month of June. There’s a wealth of happiness and romance, all in the golden afternoon…All in the golden afternoon, the golden afternoon…
Daisies instantly make me think of Wonderland! Funny how things can bring old memories to the surface innit!?

I even came a across a lavender plant growing by the roadside!

Another plant that I’m really having a good go at growing is thistle, because I love the colour and they’re a food plant for one of my favourite butterflies, the Painted lady!

One of my neighbours is growing the most beautiful roses (and said I could photograph them) she’s such a lovely lady and a kindred sprit that she’s letting me have cuttings of her pants for my own garden and even gave me a whole bunch of giant purple poppy seed-heads to dry out and grow for next year! Which is so kind and I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful neighbours.
I really hope you enjoyed these flowery photos and that they brightened your day because they filled me a great amount of positivity and happiness. Is there anything you feel particularly blessed about at the moment?? Next time I’m hoping to post some new bug drawings.
As always thank you so much for reading my friends, and have a lovely week!
Ps. Also I just want to say THANK YOU again!
