Experimenting with buttercream flowers!

Hey friends!

This weeks post is a short one! I’ve had a bit of a baking session as a result of watching way too many buttercream flower piping tutorials on YouTube (who knew that was a thing!) and thought I’d share the results of my experiments!

What do you think??

I’m unbelievably pleased with them, as my first foray into ‘piping with purpose’ I don’t think they look too bad!! I even bought some green chocolate buttons from that place named after the rainforest to make leaves with…here they’re called candy melts but I think in the US they’re called melting wafers. I may have had the piping nozzle the wrong way up for the roses, I quite like the effect but it looks more like a peony, as did the ladies at my church.

They certainly brighten up a dull afternoon! Although I couldn’t believe how much food colouring I needed for the yellow.

Which do you prefer the peony of the sunflower? I’d love to know!

Thanks so much for checking this out and I wish you a happy and bright week ahead!

Ps. I can’t recommend any one YouTuber for piping tutorials, I’d just say start with the first video and go from there. Plus there are so many crazy-talented cake baker/decorators in the world the list would be longer than my post!!!
