Hey friends,
If you’ve never been here before then welcome!!
Today I wanted to share the seventh Fleeting Thought with you. Its been a while since my last one of these, so here goes…
Autumn is just lovely isn’t it?
The sound of the geese flying south for the winter – or the Starlings congregating in their murmurations, where I live is actually quite close to a forest that thousands of starlings live in the winter, every day at around seven o’clock morning and night you can hear them flying overhead you can literally set your watch by them! The parks and woodlands are filled with warm, beautifully mesmerising colours – even though the weather is less on the warm side! You can get your jumpers out and it’s okay to drink hot chocolate at lunch time.
Also pyjamas, pyjamas seem to always feature more in the autumn/winter months…the anti-social introvert in me loves a jammies day, especially if I’ve got a good book to read or an embroidery to finish.

Its funny but in the winter I yearn for spring, the new growth of plants, longer hours of daylight and warmth of the summer sun (and of course the butterflies!), but I always find autumn to be magical watching how nature sheds its skin and prepares for winter before hibernating during the cold, dark, (and usually very) wet months. Of the four seasons I defo dislike winter weather the most, the festive season is amazing for decorating the house real pretty and obviously Christmas is an important religious festival celebrating the birth of Jesus which is super important to myself and my family, but weather-wise it just rains a lot in the UK.
But autumn brings about one of my favourite pastimes…ooshing through the fallen leaves. Its something I’ve loved since I was a small child. I love the rustling noise and my inner being gets so excited – its like an instant happy place! It creates such a feeling of peace that ooshing through leaves does wonders for my mental health and feelings of anxiety.

This year I’ve even started collecting random leaves from my ooshing (don’t judge me!) I’ve pressed them inside a very well read copy of The Hobbit that my mum bought for me about eighteen years ago from a coffee/bookshop near to Loch-ness in Scotland, one of my every year Autumn traditions is to read it (also, there were a lot of leaves to oosh in Scotland!) and then carefully taped them into my journal.
There’s something really lovely about opening a book to find flowers and leaves I’ve pressed, hidden between the pages.
Eventually my plan is to artistically frame my collected treasures and title the piece A Walk Among the Leaves.
So that’s just about it for this weeks autumn-ish post…I really hope you enjoyed it! Whats your favourite season?
As always thank you so much for reading my friends, and have a lovely week!
I’m rather partial to autumn too! I love crisp clear morning and all the gorgeous colours (when it’s not raining!!)

What a nice post for this time of year. I must say that I think Autumn is my favourite season as well and I now have the perfect word to use for walking through those crunchy fall leaves, “ooshing.”😄🍂🍁
