Hey friends!
I had a whole range of things to post last week, but I just couldn’t, and this is a bit of a sad one…
My best bud here sadly died earlier last week. It has honestly been one of the worst weeks of my life. My beautiful Hetty who in the summer had reached her 14th birthday became unwell over about three days, she suddenly kept bumping into things and then starting having seizures and I made the heartbreaking decision to have her put to sleep.
I’ve cried a year worth of tears over the last week.
As my first dog I genuinely have no words to describe how much I loved her (I know the whole ‘mans best friend’ cliché is kinda syrupy but its true!) I am devastated, its really felt like losing a family member.
We had thirteen years together and the thing I’m struggling with most is trying not to call her in from the garden and I’ve had to put her lead away as I couldn’t stand seeing it on its hook.
I’ve literally been crying so much my eyes feel sore. I had meant to post something artsy last week and when I sat down to write it I just stared crying again and wrote this instead.
And then couldn’t bring myself to actually post it.
Hopefully next week I’ll feel more like myself.
Stay safe my friends.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Just this morning I was rereading some of my posts about the various furry friends I’ve had to tell goodbye over the years, so completely understand that aching void and how we keep looking up, expecting to see them walk into the room. I hope those thirteen years of memories bring you comfort.

Thank you so very much Tracy, it’s awful when a pet dies and I’m sorry you’ve also had that experience. It’s been so hard adjusting to a home without her, she wasn’t a barker but could really snore!

HA, I smiled at the snores. I do love a snoring furry friend.

I commented earlier but just noticed it’s not here (?) so will say again how sorry I am for your loss. Losing a furry family member is so very hard. Wishing you peace as you hold tight to those 13 years of memories.

Just realized you moderate comments which is why it hasn’t shown up. Apologies.

Miss K, I am so sorry! I can’t imagine how big a loss Hetty’s death was for you. It will be quite an adjustment, the sort that one doesn’t want to make; you will probably cry many more tears, and never really get used to her absence. You were lucky to have such a dog, and she surely had the best life with you!

I am so sorry to hear about your dear Hetty passing. What a sweet looking little dog she is in the pictures. I know how hard this is, as I have gone through the same thing with two beloved cats. I know that it is impossible to imagine now but I do know that there will be a time in the future, when you will be able to smile when you think of all of the wonderful times you two spent together. 🙏🩷

Thank you so very much Julie, I knew she was getting old but it still came as such a shock. I’m sorry you’ve also had the experience of losing loved animals. Your lovely comment means so much.
