Hello my friends!
Over the last week I’ve been captivated by the shield bugs that are in the garden. They’re small, unassuming and really funky to look at.
So I’ve drawn one similar to the bee and ladybird I posted a few weeks ago, its postcard size 300gsm paper and only 13x18cm. Drawn free hand and created using Arteza pencils and a black fine liner.

Colouring pencils aren’t my favourite medium for art, but I’m finding them easier to work with than watercolours, especially when I’m out in the sun.
The Common green shield bug is obviously green (that goes without saying really!) and does look quite a bit like a shield…overall I’m quite pleased with this drawing think its proportions are pretty good and it doesn’t look too flat, which is something I’m always nervous of when using pencils.
I did try drawing a Common darter dragonfly but just wasn’t happy with it, after two failed attempts I gave up and sat watching the butterflies instead – hopefully I’ll be able to draw it better in the future if I practice a few more times!
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my art…I hope you like it! Got a favourite bug?
As ever I wish you a truly wonder filed week ahead…next weeks post is shaping up to be a big one!!
Ps. If you wanna check out my Bug art #1 post its HERE!

Moths are amazing, I saw a Privet hawk moth recently – it was massive!
