Hey friends!
How’s autumn where you are?
A week or so ago I posted a One Frame of a Long-tailed blue butterfly – a super rare migrant to the UK that travels all the way from the Mediterranean, I felt so super blessed to have seen one of these that I couldn’t help but want to create a needlework version.

#27 On my embroidered butterfly adventure is the Long-tailed blue they have a real life wing span of 32mm (males) and 42mm (female) and its really easy to tell them apart, as the boys are brilliantly blue while the girls are a more muddy colour with much more dark edging. My needlework versions have a wingspan of about 6.5cm and 8cm to keep them inline with my ‘twice life size’ scale.
They have wonderful little tails which I tried to recreate by using three strands of thread (looped behind the wire) to create a little six strand plait.
I’m so unbelievably pleased with these two and it’s super cool that I didn’t even have to leave my garden!
Well that’s it for this week…which one do you prefer the blue male or the female? I’d love to know! Thank you so much for checking this out and I wish you a wondrous week ahead!
Ps. My Long-tailed Blue butterfly One Frame is HERE and if you wanna see all my other butterflies as usual they’re HERE!
